Mirror, mirror on the wall… who’s ready to stream the fairest of them all? Disney’s latest live-action remake, Snow White, is finally making its way to digital platforms on Tuesday, May 13. Directed by Marc Webb (The Amazing Spider-Man), the fresh take on the fairy tale classic stars Rachel Zegler as the iconic princess and Gal Gadot as a deliciously wicked Evil Queen.
The live-action remake had a budget was around $250 million and earned an estimated $201.7 million globally during a theatrical run filled with buzz, and some backlash online. The modernized version of a Disney legend was reshaped for a new generation, with updated themes, fresh original songs by La La Land’s Pasek and Paul, and a toned-down romance subplot.
Disney hasn’t announced when the live-action musical is coming to Disney+, but on May 13, cord cutters can stream on digital platforms, including Prime Video, Apple TV+, and others. For those who love physical media, Snow White comes out on 4K UHD, Blu-Ray and DVD on Tuesday, June 24. For those who love nostalgia, Disney is offering the live-action remake and the original animated classic available on digital and physical in a 2-movie collection on their respective release dates.
The live-action version of Snow White features new songs like “Waiting on a Wish” and “All Is Fair,” penned by award-winning duo Benj Pasek and Justin Paul. Notably, the 1937 animated classic had the very first movie soundtrack album ever released. The film also made history as the first ever full length cel0animared feature film. It has been nearly 90 years since it was originally realesed and the animated version of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs has raked in over $900 million worldwide box office.
For those who want to experience the nostalgia before the live action film’s May 13 digital release date, you can stream Snow White (1937) on Disney+ today.
