Cord cutters looking for meaningful, history-packed programming this spring and fall can turn to Family Entertainment Television. The parent company of FETV and FMC has announced a special programming event titled Salute to Service to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II. The tribute will unfold in two phases. One in May for Victory in Europe (VE) Day and another in September for Victory over Japan (VJ) Day, offering viewers a rare opportunity to watch a powerful lineup of classic WWII films without a cable subscription.

A Double Dose of Tribute Programming on FETV and FMC

The May lineup begins on FETV with its Sunday Movie Matinee showcasing major European Theater films like The Dirty Dozen (1967), Where Eagles Dare (1969), The Great Escape (1963), and The Longest Day (1962). Meanwhile, FMC (Family Movie Classics) will air additional European-themed war dramas nightly throughout the month, culminating in an all-day VE Day marathon on May 8 featuring titles like Judgment at Nuremberg (1961), Twelve O’Clock High (1949), Guns of Navarone (1961), and The Train (1964).

Come September, FMC will shift its focus to the Pacific Theater with a fresh lineup of classic war films, airing every night throughout the month. The programming will peak with an all-day marathon on September 2 to honor VJ Day, spotlighting the resilience, conflict, and sacrifice of Allied forces in the Pacific.

“We are proud to present Salute to Service in remembrance of the heroism and sacrifice of Allied Forces during World War II,” said Adam Sumrall, Executive Vice President of FETV and FMC. “This is undoubtedly the finest collection of films we have assembled for both of our networks.”

FETV and FMC are available via streaming platforms including Frndly TV, Philo, and select FAST services. Check your preferred streaming provider to find out how to access both channels and plan your viewing schedule.

Whether you’re a history buff or simply appreciate old Hollywood war epics, Salute to Service is a rare tribute worth tuning in for.
