MeTV Launches “The Month of Mayberry” With Rare Reunion Special and Classic Episodes

MeTV is bringing back its beloved Month of Mayberry tribute this May, and this year’s lineup is especially sweet for longtime fans of The Andy Griffith Show universe. Kicking off on Sunday, May 4, the annual celebration will include The Andy Griffith Show Reunion, a rarely seen gem airing on television for the first time in decades.

From May 4 through May 30, MeTV will spotlight classic episodes of The Andy Griffith Show, plus spin-offs Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C. and Mayberry R.F.D., along with fan-favorite specials. Cordcutters can catch the programming event live on Frndly TV and Philo, both of which stream MeTV as part of their live TV offerings.

What to Watch

The month-long event begins Sunday, May 4, at 4pm ET/PT with The Danny Thomas Show episode “Danny Meets Andy Griffith,” which originally introduced viewers to Sheriff Andy Taylor. That’s followed by The Andy Griffith Show pilot “The New Housekeeper” and the one-hour reunion special Back to Mayberry at 5pm. The group return features Andy Griffith, Ron Howard, Don Knotts, and more cast members reminiscing about their time in Mayberry. The evening wraps with the classic “Pickle Story” episode at 6pm.

Beginning May 5, MeTV will air two back-to-back episodes of The Andy Griffith Show every weeknight at 8pm and 8:30pm ET/PT. Each week has its own theme (full schedule below):

  • May 5–9: All About Andy – episodes highlighting Sheriff Andy Taylor
  • May 12–16: The Fife Is Right – featuring the hilarious Barney Fife
  • May 19–23: Best of the Rest – spotlighting Aunt Bee, Gomer, Goober, and other fan favorites
  • May 26–30: Mayberry’s Out of Towners – featuring guest stars like Don Rickles and Barbara Eden

And on Sunday, May 25, fans can enjoy a two-part primetime finale:

  • 4pmReturn to Mayberry (1986), a reunion movie bringing Andy Taylor back to Mayberry
  • 6pmMayberry R.F.D. pilot “Andy and Helen Get Married”
