Pluto TV, the leading free ad-supported streaming television service, is set to delight comedy fans this February by becoming the exclusive streaming home for a trio of Monty Python cinematic gems and their groundbreaking TV series. Starting today, viewers can dive into Monty Python and the Holy Grail (1975)—celebrating its 50th anniversary this year—Monty Python’s Life of Brian (1979), Monty Python Live at the Hollywood Bowl (1982), and the full run of Monty Python’s Flying Circus (1969-1974), all lovingly restored in crisp HD. Available on-demand and across dedicated channels like the new Sketchy AF and British Comedy, these iconic works from the legendary British troupe are now just a click away—at no cost—thanks to a fresh partnership with Shout! Studios’ Shout! TV.
The deal marks one of Shout! Studios’ latest coups in the FAST (free ad-supported streaming television) arena, bringing Monty Python’s absurd genius to Pluto TV’s 145 million monthly U.S. viewers. “We’re thrilled to distribute these comic masterpieces and to have Pluto as a partner to feature and promote this timeless and sought-after content,” said Julie Dansker, SVP of Streaming and Content Strategy at Shout! Studios. For the entire month of February, Pluto TV stands alone as the only platform streaming these titles for free, a move that’s already sparking buzz among fans of the troupe’s irreverent humor.
“Monty Python’s timeless wit and absurd brilliance have shaped comedy for generations,” said Kevin Sullivan, VP Content Partnerships at Pluto TV. “Now our audiences can enjoy their iconic films and series for free on our new Sketchy AF channel—whether you’re a lifelong fan or discovering them for the first time, these classics have never been more accessible.” From the coconut-clopping knights of Holy Grail—which topped British film box-office charts in the U.S. upon its 1975 release—to the subversive satire of Life of Brian, where Graham Chapman’s reluctant messiah stumbles into hilarity, the lineup is a masterclass in comedy. Add in the surreal sketches of Flying Circus and the live antics of Hollywood Bowl, and it’s a full Monty Python takeover.
Formed in 1969 by Graham Chapman, John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Terry Jones, and Michael Palin, Monty Python redefined humor with their dry, imaginative flair, catapulting from BBC sketches to global stardom. Social media’s lighting up with anticipation, one X user posting, “Pluto TV snagging Monty Python for free? I’m ready for some spam and shrubbery!” With over 350 live channels and thousands of on-demand titles, Pluto TV’s February coup—streamable on Roku, Fire TV, and more—promises a month of laughter, proving comedy this good doesn’t need a price tag.
This all comes as Pluto TV recently added several new live TV channels.
