As streaming continues to rise, Grogo has launched an ‘edutainment’ app that will turn children’s binge scrolling into a brain-boosting activity.

Designed for kids in grades 2-12, Grogo is a subscription-based app that aims to balance screen time with educational content. With a growing concern of parents wanting to manage their child’s screen time, Grogo is taking an innovative approach with a focus on Snackable Learning using age-appropriate questions on a variety of subjects.

With Grogo, parents can customize their child’s learning experience. The app can be set to interrupt screen time every 15–60 minutes with a focus on subjects like math, science, English, history, and pop culture. When it’s time for a study break, Grogo locks access to apps until your child completes a quick, confidence-boosting challenge.

Here’s a closer look at the Grogo demo and screengrab:

“Current device management apps are about surveillance and control, pitting parent against child. We developed Grogo as a non-punitive way for kids to develop better balanced screen time habits,” said Brad Brinegar, co-founder and chief marketing officer of Grogo. “And we’ve even seen that parents want Grogo for themselves!” said Richard Marra, Jr., co-founder and CEO.

In 2024, a study by Reviews.org found that screen time is at an all-time high, with the average household spending up to 16 hours across all devices. And co-viewing continues to rise as streamers like Disney+ and Hulu lead the pack with family-friendly content. With more options than ever of things to watch at our fingertips, Grogo looks to revolutionize how passive screen time can be a learning opportunity for everyone.

Users can find Grogo in the Apple App and Google Play stores. Enjoy a 14-day free trial of Grogo then $6.99 per child or $9.99 per family per month, with two months free when parents choose an annual plan.
