Viewers of the popular 24/7 FAST channel DraftKings Network may see a noticeable change in content in the upcoming months as the company reportedly shifts away from producing in-house content.
Front Office Sports was the first to report that Mike Golic and his son Mike Golic Jr., the hosts of DraftKings Network’s GoJo and Golic said the company would not be renewing their contracts when they expire in the upcoming months.
“After careful consideration, DraftKings has decided not to renew agreements with Mike Golic Sr. and Mike Golic Jr. for GoJo and Golic. We want to thank the Golics for their contributions to DraftKings,” the company said in a statement to FOS. “We remain focused on optimizing current and future content investments to continue to grow the audiences for DraftKings Network and DraftKingsNetwork.com.”
The focus on “optimizing current and future content investments” could mean a complete shift in strategy for its FAST channel.
According to the elder Golic in a follow up interview with Barrett Media, he and his son had known that their contracts would not be renewed for a while and the company would stop in-house production.
“DraftKings said that they were going to stop all in-house produced shows,” Golic explained to Barret Media. “Anything that they’re producing, they were going to stop. They’ll still do the shows that are self producing, but my son and I’s show was one that was produced in house, and they’re stopping all their content that’s produced in house.”
The Golics aren’t the only ones who are not having their DraftKings Network show renewed. The football-centric Pregame PowerUp with Trey Wingo and Claudia Bellofatto will also not be renewed for another season.
“After careful consideration, DraftKings has decided not to renew agreements with Mike Golic Sr. and Mike Golic Jr. for GoJo and Golic,” a DraftKings spokesperson said in a statement to Barret Media. “Additionally, we will not bring back Pregame PowerUp with Trey Wingo and Claudia Bellofatto for the 2025-26 NFL season. We want to thank the Golics, Jessie Coffield, Trey and Claudia for their contributions to DraftKings. We remain focused on optimizing current and future content investments to continue to grow the audiences for DraftKings Network and DraftKingsNetwork.com.”
Barret reported that DraftKings did not reply to inquiries about stopping in-house production or if other shows might be impacted.
Golic and Golic Jr. have been a part of the DraftKings Network since its launch in 2023, and will now shop their show to another platform. FOS reported that sources have said the duo has had “early discussions with a number” of outlets and “exploratory” talks with Yahoo Sports. FOS reported that a Yahoo spokesperson declined to comment.
With more consumers choosing free ad-supported content over pay TV, DraftKings Network has provided sports fans with 24/7 programming with no subscription required. The DraftKings Network is available to stream for free on Sling Freestream, Samsung TV Plus, and Vizio WatchFree+ among others.
