In a big shift to a more traditional TV experience, many Max subscribers will notice that they’ll have a live feed of HBO programming today.

Back in December, it was reported that Warner Bros. Discovery was testing 24/7 linear channels on Max, which would mirror programming found on traditional HBO linear channels. At the time, the lineup of new channels that ad-free Max subscribers were treated to included:

  • HBO Comedy: Featuring a curated selection of comedic content, including original series like Curb Your Enthusiasm, stand-up specials, and comedy films.
  • HBO Signature: Showcasing a lineup of critically acclaimed dramatic series and films.
  • HBO Zone: Dedicated to beloved classic HBO series and movies, offering a nostalgic trip for longtime fans.
  • HBO and HBO 2: Presenting a mix of new premieres, current hits, and fan favorites, mirroring the programming of the traditional HBO linear channels.

Today subscribers to the WBD streaming platform can enjoy even more of the HBO-curated live feeds. Here are the full list of live HBO channels that Max subscribers can watch today:

  • HBO Series, Movies & More
  • HBO 2 More to Explore
  • HBO Signature Acclaimed Series
  • HBO Comedy 24/7 Laughs
  • HBO Zone Unique Finds
  • CNN Max Live News

Subscribers who have access to the expanded channels will notice a dedicated “Channels” row on the Max homepage. This feature enables them to effortlessly choose a channel and start watching the live program. The platform also maintains essential streaming functionalities, such as pausing, rewinding, and fast-forwarding within the live streams.

The wide release of live channels coincides with a shift of more streaming services offering live channels to give viewers an option to watch curated content similar to traditional cable networks. This could help improve viewer engagement by giving more subscribers the option to have a simple experience and return to channel flipping to discover their next favorite show, movie, or event.
