Today Gray Media announced it is bringing its 24/7 streaming news network, Local News Live (LNL), directly to viewers’ living rooms and smartphones. The company announced today the launch of standalone LNL apps for a variety of connected TV and mobile devices, including Roku, Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, iOS, and Android.
“Local News Live offers a unique perspective on national news by leveraging the expertise of Gray journalists across 113 local markets,” said Sandy Breland, Gray’s Chief Operating Officer. “These new apps will significantly expand our reach, delivering impactful local coverage of national stories to a broader audience.”
Launched in 2021, Local News Live initially streamed on Gray station websites and within local news apps. This expansion allows viewers nationwide to access LNL directly through dedicated apps, making it easier to stay informed on both local and national news.
“We’re excited to grow our footprint and serve more viewers with our distinctive blend of national coverage through a local lens,” said Lisa Allen, General Manager of Gray’s Washington Operations.
Based out of Gray’s Washington D.C. News Bureau, Local News Live provides continuous coverage of breaking news, weather, and impactful stories from a local perspective. The network taps into the resources of Gray’s extensive network of local journalists, offering a unique and comprehensive view of events shaping the nation.
This move signifies Gray’s commitment to expanding its digital presence and delivering news content across multiple platforms. By offering standalone apps for popular streaming devices, Local News Live becomes more accessible to viewers who prefer to consume news through connected TVs and mobile devices.
The LNL apps are available to download for free by searching “LNL” on the respective app stores. With this expansion, Gray Media is poised to reach a wider audience and solidify its position as a leading provider of local news coverage with a national perspective.
