YouTube TV Revamps Home Screen, Prioritizing DVR Recordings

Users of YouTube TV are reporting a significant redesign of the home screen experience across multiple platforms including iOS, Roku, and Xbox platforms. The update seems to prioritize on-demand content and resume watching content over live channels. Multiple reports on Reddit now say they got the new home screen update.

Previously, the home screen prominently featured live TV content, with “Top Picks” taking center stage. This section has now been replaced with promotional banners, such as for NFL Sunday Ticket along with “Resume watching” and recommended content now occupy the prime real estate, pushing live TV further down the page.

The only readily accessible live TV option now appears to be a multiview area. This change suggests YouTube TV is increasingly emphasizing its recorded content library and integration with streaming partners.

No word yet from Google on if this is a beta test or the roll out of a new update to YouTube TV. Google has a long history of testing new features including new home screen features on a small number of users before a larger roll out.
