The new RSN Chicago Sports Network (CHSN) has inked a multiyear deal with DIRECTV, ensuring that live local game telecasts for the Chicago Blackhawks, Bulls, and White Sox will be available across a five-state footprint starting October 1st, 2024. With this deal, CHSN will air on DIRECTV and DIRECTV STREAM.
This landmark agreement marks the first for CHSN, the new exclusive TV home of these three iconic Chicago sports franchises. The deal will bring up to 300 live games, along with additional Chicago and Midwest-based sports programming and other feature content, to DIRECTV subscribers in high-definition format.
DIRECTV customers subscribing to the Choice package or above will be able to access CHSN on channel 665 via satellite and DIRECTV STREAM, as well as on U-verse channels 1741(HD)/741(SD). This placement conveniently takes over the channel slots previously occupied by the teams’ former network.
Both DIRECTV and CHSN emphasized their commitment to providing fans with access to their beloved teams. DIRECTV Chief Content Officer Rob Thun highlighted the importance of consumer choice and ensuring fans can connect with their favorite teams. Jason Coyle, President of Chicago Sports Network, expressed excitement about DIRECTV’s dedication to Chicago sports and their collaborative efforts to deliver a fan-first approach.
CHSN will aos air for free on over-the-air TV in Chicago and is reportedly in talks with other providers.
