Roku, a pioneer in the streaming device industry, has recently announced the start of beta testing for its upcoming Roku OS 14.0. This new update, initially being tested on Roku streaming players, promises to elevate the overall performance of media playback and device functionality while also incorporating broader support for industry-standard content metadata.
Among the key features of Roku OS 14.0 are new SceneGraph capabilities designed to enhance the display of text within channels. Developers can now leverage the MonospaceLabel node to present text in a clear, evenly spaced format, eliminating the need for monospace fonts. Additionally, the LabelBase node has been enhanced with a “monospacedDigits” field, ensuring the consistent and accurate rendering of numerical data in time displays and countdowns.
Roku, founded in 2002, has played a pivotal role in shaping the streaming landscape. From its early days as a simple streaming player to its current position as a leading platform with a vast content library and its own operating system, Roku has consistently pushed the boundaries of innovation in the streaming industry.
With Roku OS 14.0, the company continues its tradition of refining the user experience and empowering developers to create compelling content for its platform. The focus on improved media playback and expanded support for industry standards demonstrates Roku’s dedication to delivering a seamless and enjoyable streaming experience for its users.
Currently we do not know a date when this beta test will become public.
