With the program, Disney rewarded its most dedicated fans who went to see movies in movie theatres, bought Blue-rays, DVDS, or digital movies. And you could earn free stuff by joining the program.
Now Disney has announced that it will be shutting down the program. September 6, 2024, will be the last day to earn points and December 4, 2024, will be the last day to spend points.
“As a valued Member, we would like to inform you that Disney Movie Insiders will be sunset as of December 4th, 2024. Our members’ passion for content across The Walt Disney Studios has always been at the heart of our program. We are incredibly grateful for your participation in the program and enthusiasm over the years. Over the coming weeks, we encourage you to redeem your points for rewards from our collection. Points can continue to be used on a variety of offerings, including posters, movies, Disney Gift Cards, sweepstakes, and more. We greatly appreciate your loyalty, support and understanding,” Disney said in a statement on its website.
As increasingly sales of physical and digital movies along with movie tickets continue to drop in favor of subscription services like Disney+ you can see why Disney has decided the cost of this service was not worth the return. Sadly, for its loyal fans who used it, they will no longer earn free stuff.
