Global streaming media company Plex, the largest independent streaming media platform, announced the launch of 92 additional free ad-supported streaming television (FAST) channels worldwide in July. This expansion includes channels in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, the UK, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, Spain, Brazil, France, and Germany.
Plex has been on a rapid growth trajectory in 2024, adding over 300 channels in the first seven months alone. This expansion aligns with Plex’s mission to be the premier destination for discovering, watching, rating, and discussing shows and movies with friends and family.
As an emerging leader in FAST and AVOD, Plex now boasts the most extensive FAST channel lineup globally, with over 800 free channels in the U.S. and nearly 1,200 channels worldwide, available in over 195 countries.
Popular Single-Series Channels
Among the new additions are popular single-series channels available 24/7, including Weeds, Designated Survivor, Nash Bridges, Prime Suspect, and major networks such as CW Gold and CW Forever. For regions like Brazil, Spain, and Latin America, Plex introduced over ten channels each last month. Highlights include Project Runway in Australia and New Zealand, and The Price is Right with Drew Carey in Canada. Additionally, there was a significant onboarding of channels from Bell Media in Canada, featuring original programming from CTV News, TSN The Ocho, and CTV Gridlock, which showcases shows like HEAVY RESCUE: 401 and Highway Thru Hell.
In the first half of this year, Plex also significantly expanded its U.S. and international sports channel offerings. New sports channels include FIFA+, the NFL Channel, MLB, T2, Cricket Gold, The World Poker Tour, CBS Sports HQ, Golazo, BeIN Australia, B/R Sports Network, and more.
Currently, Plex combines free TV with ad-supported video on demand (AVOD) to reach over 23 million monthly active users globally. The platform offers the industry’s most widely available ad-supported video-on-demand and live TV services in over 195 countries.
