Bob Barker, the iconic game show host, will be remembered during a one-hour special called The Price is Right: A Tribute To Bob Barker, on Thursday, August 31 at 8 p.m. ET. The broadcast will air again on Labor Day during the game show’s regular weekly time slot at 11 a.m. ET., according to Deadline. The special will also be available for streaming on Paramount Plus
Drew Carey, the current host of the game show, will MC the tribute special celebrating Barker’s life and career. Viewers will get to see clips from Barker’s first appearance as The Price is Right frontman in 1972 and his final episode in 2007, as well as memorable moments with contestants.
Barker, who died on Saturday at the age of 99, hosted The Price is Right for 35 years and maintained a dedicated audience. His catch phrase, “Come on down!” was familiar to multiple generations of families. The show also became a comfort-watch for kids who stayed home from school sick. The Hollywood Reporter dubbed Barker the Patron Saint of Sick Days.
Prior to his tenure on The Price is Right, Barker had his own radio show, and also hosted Truth or Consequences and Miss Universe. In total, Barker’s career spanned 50 years during which he earned 19 Daytime Emmys and a Lifetime Achievement Award for Daytime television in 1999. The show itself joined the National Association of Broadcasters Hall of Fame in 2022.
You can stream The Price is Right for free on Pluto TV, which is available on devices like Fire TV, Apple TV, iOS, Android, Google TV, LG TVs, Web, Roku, and Samsung TVs.
