The Marvel Cinematic Universe was once the dominant entertainment franchise, but the aggressive proliferation of shows and movies have spread it thin, with the poor reception to Disney Plus’s Secret Invasion capping off a recent disappointing run. It has many questioning whether the MCU has completely lost its touch.
But in comes the trailer for the second season of Loki.
Even with the glut of MCU shows for Disney Plus, Loki stood out for its quirky tone, fascinating characters and, of course, Tom Hiddleston’s slippery and charismatic title character. The back and forth between him and Owen Wilson’s Mobius M. Mobius was one of the richest and popular relationships in the MCU.
The first season ended with (minor spoilers) a lot of things breaking, and the trailer for the new season shows at least some of those ramifications. It also gives us a first look at Ke Huy Quan’s Ouroboros, a Time Variance Authority archivist. Quan is fresh off his Oscar win for Everything Everywhere All at Once.
The trailer ends with an ominous look at Jonathan Majors’s Victor Timely, a scene teased at the end of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.
The second season premieres on October 6 on Disney Plus.
