Amazon as part of its plan to expand into health care agreed to buy One Medical, a primary care provider. The deal is worth $3.49 billion and will make Amazon a giant in virtual healthcare and brick-and-mortar doctors’ offices.
Now the FTC has said it will not challenge Amazon’s plan to buy One Medical, but it did say it will watch for any potential harm to competition. The FTC will also be watching how Amazon uses consumer data.
One Medical has 8,500 employees and is in more than a dozen US markets. With One Medical, you can get virtual care day or night.
The FTC is still looking into Amazon’s plan to buy Roomba’s parent company, iRobot Corp.
