5 Kids Movies to Stream When You’ve Had Enough of Frozen 2

One unavoidable fact for parents who’ve been stuck inside the house for the last month is that we’ve been stuck inside with our kids. Whether the idea of homeschooling has brought you closer together as a family, or sent you into the fetal position – chances are good that you’ve tapped your list of kids movies to stream multiple times per week. And chances are great that Frozen 2 probably is or at least was on that list of movies.  

Have your go-to movie options for occupying your kids’ attention started to wear on your sanity? If you’re already down that road or getting close to it, here are a few alternative options that should at least get some different songs stuck in your head.

The Willoughbys

An adaptation of the 2009 children’s book by Lois Lowry – this is a story of four siblings who concoct a plan to get rid of their neglectful parents and set out on their own adventure. 

 

Watch for: The joys of belonging to a family, despite its flaws or what it may look like

Flavor: If Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events added a dash of Mary Poppins

Trolls World Tour

A sequel to the 2016 film, Trolls – this movie tells the story of the two main characters, Poppy and Branch discovering six musical troll tribes across the world. 

 

Watch for: Meeting new friends and songs that aren’t “Let it Go” or “Into the Unknown”

Flavor: A bit of Shrek mixed with a bit of the Muppets

Sonic the Hedgehog

Based on the title character from the popular Sega video game franchise, this movie follows Sonic as he adjusts to life on Earth with a new friend. He soon crosses paths with an old enemy who seeks to capture Sonic and use his powers to take over the world.

Watch for: A bit of nostalgia for fans of the game and the message of using your talents to help others 

Flavor: If E.T. added a big glob of Looney Tunes

Onward

This recent Pixar entry tells the tale of two teenage brothers who live in a world of magical creatures but don’t have much magic in their lives. After discovering a way to use magic to bring their late father back to life for 24 hours, they embark on a quest that’s sure to change everything. 

Watch for: A different kind of sibling road trip with creative problem solving in a fresh setting 

Flavor: If The Neverending Story was sprinkled with some Weekend at Bernie’s

Spies in Disguise

Smooth super spy, Lance and a geeky scientist, Walter make the perfect team against global dangers. But when a sudden mishap forces them to work together in a way they never have before, they have to learn how to save the world outside of their comfort zones.  

Watch for: Good voice performances, comedy and teamwork

Flavor: If you took some leftovers from The Odd Couple and added them to a James Bond and Spy Kids stew
