Want local news without getting an antenna or do you live outside of your favorite station’s OTA coverage? Check out the new NewsON channel for the Roku. NewsON brings you live local news coverage from your local TV station. When your local station is not airing live news, NewsON will replay the most recent news coverage until your local station airs live news again.
If you live in an area NewsON does not cover then check out the Livestream channel. It also has a lot of local news, but you’ll need to search for your local stations. I typically find at least one station in every market streams with either NewsON or Livestream.

Sky News is from the United Kingdom, and it airs 24/7 live news coverage from around the world. It is more focused on the UK and Europe than the US and other areas. This makes it a great source for news of events happening throughout Europe. They do often break into live coverage for major US events such as election results and even have carried a few of the US presidential debates.

Pluto TV has a ton of great content—from gardening tips to video game coverage. They also do a nice job covering news as it happens around the world. They have a live staff that hand picks the best news coverage from whatever is happening and ties all the videos together into one channel in the Pluto TV app.

#5 Fox News, CNN, NBC, ABC, etc….
Many of the big news networks have Roku channels that may not offer live coverage but do have a ton of free news clips. Some even have full shows on after they air. So make sure to check out the News section in your Roku Channel Store and add your favorite networks to see what they offer.
