Amazon has decided to put an end to Display Mirroring support through Miracast on the Fire TV. That means on the 3rd Gen Fire TV you will not be able to mirror your Android or Windows PC to your Fire TV.

Miracast was the system Amazon used to allow Fire TV owners to mirror their Android or Windows PC screen to their Fire TV. Amazon has not included it in the 3rd Gen Fire TV. This comes according to a report from AFTVnews.com, a site with a great track record in breaking Fire TV news.

Amazon has already started to pull support for Miracast from their tablets. Both the 2016 and 2017 Fire Tablets did not have the option.

You will still be able to cast videos from YouTube and Netflix to your Fire TV. This update just means you won’t be able to mirror your screen on your Fire TV. While this will likely upset some Fire TV users, for many this may be a feature they didn’t even know they had.
