During their recent earnings call, Disney shared subscriber numbers for the first time since the week of their streaming service’s launch. Disney+ has reached 28.6 million subscribers since launching in November 2019.New research from Piplsay took a look at viewers’ opinions of Disney+ in relation to similar streaming services. The study showed that 37% of Americans have subscribed to Disney+. Of those who have subscribed, 36% have unsubscribed to other streaming services like Netlfix and Amazon Prime after beginning their Disney+ subscription.The poll went on to ask about opinions of Disney’s streaming service when compared to several competitors that have been around much longer. The results showed that 49% of Americans said that Disney plus is as good as Netflix, while another 23% said it is even better than the streaming giant. 37% said Disney+ was better than Amazon Prime and 37% also said Disney+ was better than Hulu.During the earnings call, Disney Chairman and CEO Bob Iger commented that 50% of Disney+ users have watched movies on the streaming platform. The numbers in the Piplsay study showed that 39% of users have watched animated films and 27% have watched live action films, while 34% have streamed TV shows.
