AMC is Going To Release a Cheaper AMC+ Streaming Service
AMC has struggled to get traction for its AMC+ streaming service. Now its plans for AMC+ to offset losses to cord cutting have not become a reality.
According to a memo the Wall Street Journal got access to from AMC Chairman James Dolan, AMC’s streaming plans are failing. The memo indicates AMC had believed losses from cord cutting would be offset by streaming gains, but that expectation failed to become a reality. Dolan’s memo, per the WSJ, said that “mechanisms for the monetization of content are in disarray.”
FreeCast Announces a Streaming Player With ATSC 3.0 NextGen TV Tuner & a DVR Built Into It
This week at the National Association of Broadcasting show, FreeCast announced a new streaming player that also has a ATSC 3.0 NextGen TV built into it.
The New FreeCast Home brings over-the-air broadcast television channels into the FreeCast digital guide, alongside web-delivered streaming channels and over half a million free and pay-per-view shows and movies on-demand. The network-connected device will also include an ATSC 3.0 tuner to bring the latest advances in broadcast technology to devices throughout the home and local DVR storage that is expandable via USB.
The Fire TV Makes it Easier to Find Free Content
Today AFTVnews spotted a minor update that Amazon slipped into the Amazon Fire TV. This update added a new free streaming section allowing you to quickly find all the free content Amazon’s Fire TV has to offer.
This update shows free content from multiple services, but Amazon has not announced all the services that are now included in this area. When looking at the free section, the content does not list what service it comes from.
