Five people are facing charges after over $2 million in merchandise was stolen from an Amazon warehouse over the span of two years.
The investigation focused on two Amazon employees, according to a report from The Toronto Sun, and the theft took place at an Amazon warehouse in Ajax, Ontario. After Amazon’s loss prevention team reached out to police, officers found electronics and cash at a residence. Following an investigation, three more people were arrested in connection.
The Durham Regional Police Service shared details on social media.
“In November 2025, members of the Financial Crimes Unit (FCU) began an investigation into two employees of the Amazon Fulfillment Centre located at 789 Salem Road. Investigators were contacted by Amazon Loss Prevention after it was alleged that two employees were responsible for the theft of approximately $2 million in merchandise over a two-year period.
On Monday, December 15, 2025, as a result of a collaborative investigation involving the Amazon Loss Prevention Team, investigators from the FCU took two employees into custody before executing a search warrant at a residence in Scarborough. Three additional suspects were located and taken into custody during the search warrant. As a result, police seized over $250,000 in high-end electronics and $50,000 in Canadian Currency.”
Charges for the five include theft, fraud, and trafficking of property obtained by crime.
