Previously, we’ve shared hidden gems in the Roku Channel Store and on Amazon Fire devices. Now, we’re back with 10 less well known apps for the Apple TV.

Bon Appetit

This free app is loaded with food content, available to watch while you’re in the kitchen or looking for inspiration. Look for videos from the Test Kitchen and tutorials to help you create your new favorite dish.

Crackle

This free streaming service from Sony has an easy to navigate app for Apple TV, allowing users to find movies and TV shows in their favorite categories quickly. In addition to a great catalog of well known movies and TV shows, Crackle also has original content and a Spotlight channel with handpicked recommendations.

TED

Thanks to TED Talks and the free app from the App Store, you can learn about thousands of topics from experts around the world, all for free. This app has thousands of videos that you can stream or download for offline viewing. Browse by category or use the “Surprise Me!” feature to watch a random video.

Classix

This app allows users to classic movies, for free, with no subscription required. Watch your favorite classic movies, explore titles in the content library, and preview movie trailers to discover new favorites.

Newsy

Newsy offers honest, in-depth, well-informed news stories. Use this Apple TV app to stay informed and dive deeper into the stories that interest you. Newsy also has documentaries and the ability to browse older stories so you can always find something new to learn.

WeatherNation

WeatherNation offers real time weather updates with no subscriptions, no fees, and sign ups required. With the app, you’ll get instant access to local forecasts, upcoming weather patterns, and stories about weather conditions in your area and around the country.

Popcornflix

Stream free movies with the Popcornflix app. This app is free, legal, and has a large content library of feature length films, on-demand movies, and TV shows. The app is ad-supported and includes new titles, popular films, and hidden gems from a variety of categories.

Popcornflix Kids

The kids version of the Popcornflix app is worthy of it’s on spot on the list of great apps for Apple TV. Popcornflix Kids is loaded with family friendly movies in categories like Adventures, Animations, Comedy, Fairy Tales, Based on Books, Sci-Fi/Fantasy, and Wild Kingdom.

Reuters News

If you’re looking for in-depth news stories, the Reuters News app has you covered. The app allows users to search for stories based on topic, but also by length of the video. Whether you’re looking for a quick story to fill five minutes or you’re ready to settle in and learn more about a current event, there are news clips for you.

Freeform

While you’ll need to sign in to watch live TV with the Freeform app, you’ll have access to full episodes to many shows and a collection of movies with no sign in required. The movie library is updated frequently, so check back often for new titles.
