There is a growing trend of streaming services bundling together to offer deals. One of the best known is the Disney+ bundle that offers Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ for a flat fee. We have also seen other bundles like Peacock, Netflix, and Apple TV+ appear recently.
A new study from Magid gives us some insight into bundling. According to that report, when customers subscribe to services that are bundled, they are less likely to cancel.
The study does not give much insight into why, but according to our readers the variety of content is one of the main reasons. With a single streaming service, it is easier to binge watch everything and cancel to rotate the content. With a bundle of two or three services there is more content allowing you to justify the cost year-round versus just paying for one service.
According to the study, customers who bundled services are 16% less likely to cancel and rotate services.
Streaming service bundles are relatively new and limited. Now that they are becoming more popular that raises the question of whether they would be likely to continue to stream once other services bundle. We will have to wait and see if customers will be as interested in these new bundles as they have been with others like the Disney+ bundle.
