Last year, Walmart launched several new Google TV devices, including a 4K streaming player under its Onn brand. Now in 2024 Walmart made the Onn Google TV 4K Pro Streaming Device that offers more RAM, new features, and a Pro label. So does this live up to the hype and is it worth your money? Lets take a look.

The built-in smart speaker:
The Walmart Onn streaming player is a great option for many. The hands-free control with the built-in smart speaker helps it stand out from many other Google TV devices on the market.
The performance of the player:
The quality of the streaming was excellent as apps and videos opened quickly without issues. The performance of the player was excenent and even better than the current Chromecast with Google TV.
The Remote:
Currently, Walmart is shipping this with two different remotes. The one we got had a free TV button that launched you to a list of free live-streaming services offered by Google. The second version does not have the free TV button but has backlight buttons.
The remote we got worked well and even had a button you could program to open any app you wanted or change the input of your TV. The problem is it did feel a bit cheap and made a loud noise when using the confirm button to select something on the screen.
Final Thoughts:
For an under $50 streaming player, this was a great device. The only holdback is the remote, which made it feel very low quality. Since that is likely how most people will control this streaming player, it sadly has an oversized impact on the user experience. With that said, the remote works well, and the streaming player itself was excellent.
If you want a new Google TV device this maybe the one you should buy for its great price, fast speed, and great features.
