This week Warner Bros. Discovery has gone all in on getting new sporting TV rights as it announced multiple deals with different college conferences to air games on Max, truTV, TBS, and TNT.
The most recent deal sees the Big East conferences men’s and women’s college basketball games moving to TNT, TBS, truTV, and Max. In total, 65 regular season Big East basketball games in the 2025–2026 season will move to Warner Bros. Discovery and stream on Max.
This comes as Warner Bros. Discovery and the Mountain West Conference announced a deal that will bring 14 football games to Max and truTV. TNT Sports will produce a collection of Mountain West games to be aired on the newly rebranded truTV and the Max streaming service.
Warner Bros. Discovery and Disney have agreed to a five-year deal to bring ESPN college football quarterfinal games to TNT and Max through its sports add-on. With this deal, the first two rounds of games this year and next will be aired on TNT, with additional quarterfinal games added in 2026. Disney also has the option to sell more games to Warner Bros. Discovery.
Recently ESPN renewed its contract to air the College Football Playoffs just as it will expand to 12 teams this year. This deal will help ESPN bring in revenue to cover the costs.
Reports have recently come out that TNT will likely lose NBA TV rights, and it looks like they are rushing to find new content to replace the lost NBA games.
