The long-awaited NFL Sunday Ticket trial is finally underway and interesting details are starting to come out. At issue is a lawsuit claiming the NFL is driving up the cost of watching the games.

Disney proposed offering NFL Sunday Ticket from ESPN for just $70 a season with options to buy single team packages, according to Edvard Pettersson from CourthouseNews.com

Apple also tried to get rights arguing that if they offered NFL Sunday Ticket it could add 15 to 20 million new customers to their Apple TV service.

According to Patriots owner Robert Kraft, the NFL would rather keep the service a premium offering instead of trying to get a massive number of subscribers for less money.

A $70 a year package sounds great, but it is unknown exactly how much Disney offered to pay the NFL for the rights to NFL Sunday Ticket. It is possible that Google’s offer was significantly higher for the NFL allowing them to pick the highest bidder for their service.

For now, the NFL is hoping that the league’s broadcast antitrust exemption will see them through the case. We are likely far from finished finding out interesting details that will be dropped as the court case continues.
