Today, Sony’s streaming service Crunchyroll announced a price hike on its popular Mega Fan membership from $9.99 a month to $11.99 a month starting today for new members. Current subscribers will see their bills go up on their next bill after June 25, 2024.
Recently Crunchyroll announced it has passed 13 million subscribers. Crunchyroll also recently launched a free 24/7 channel on multiple platforms like Amazon Freevee, The Roku Channel, and Vizio WatchFree+.
The service, which launched in 2006, offers popular movies and shows like My Hero Academia, Jujutsu Kaisen, One Piece, Blue Exorcist, Black Clover, Dragon Ball Z, and more. While Crunchyroll got its start offering a free tier with ads, it removed that option in February, forcing all members to pay a fee to access its content.
Here is the email Crunchyroll sent to subscribers of its Mega Fan plan today:
Beginning May 1, 2024, the price of the Crunchyroll Mega Fan membership tier will increase from $9.99/month to $11.99/month. Changes will be reflected in your next billing cycle starting on 2024-06-25, and will be charged to your current payment method on file. If you want to make any changes to your membership, please visit your account page, or you may cancel at any time before your next billing date.
