Bloomberg is reporting that back in 2012 YouTube started to work on a streaming service that will compete with Sling TV, the original service offering live cable channels. Now it appears that YouTube will be ready to launch sometime in 2017.
YouTube is currently in talks with content owners, and Bloomberg is reporting that big names, such as CBS, Fox, and NBCUniversal, have yet to strike a deal with YouTube; no known partners have been signed up.
The floodgates seem to be open as media companies are focusing on cord cutters in an effort to reach a growing number of Americans who are ditching traditional pay TV services.
Right now that is all that is known, but Bloomberg is confident about this service. However, it could just turn into one more Apple TV service that, at the end of the day, was unable to get off the ground due to lack of deals.
