YouTube TV’s New Guide is Finally Coming to The Apple TV

Last month Google started to roll out a new YouTube TV library and guide. For the Apple TV, there were some issues that forced Google to roll back to the old guide after it made the YouTube TV app unusable. Now almost a month later, Google has fixed the issue and started to roll out the new YouTube TV guide to the Apple TV.

Over the last few days, Google has started to slowly roll out the new guide to Apple TV streaming players. If you don’t have it yet, you should have it soon.

“We’ll be continuing to evolve our product via a holistic viewer-centric approach leveraging our core principles. We’re just getting started with Live and Library — we will continue to thread ways to empower users on Home, improving the discovery and browse experiences. We’ll also bring more flexibility and interactivity during live playback and add the ability to easily switch between user profiles — all while ensuring TV is made for you… stay tuned!” YouTube TV said in a statement on their website.

From the looks of it, Google is bringing the Google TV user interface into the YouTube TV app. Gone is the left-hand vertical menu bar in the library, and instead, it has been replaced with a horizontal menu bar below two rows of suggested content to help drive views. Clearly, this update is meant to bring more suggested on-demand and DVRed content to the front compared to the older version.

If you want the new guide on the Apple TV, there is nothing you need to do. This new guide should show up the next time you use YouTube TV on your Apple TV.
