YouTube TV Updates Its Channel Guide

This week, YouTube TV made a small but important change to its user guide. This comes as YouTube TV has slowly been making improvements to YouTube TV’s app with new features over the last year.

This change now brings you back to the last channel you watched on the channel guide instead of always bringing you to the top of your guide every time you back out of watching a channel. This feature helps you pick up from where you left off on the YouTube TV live guide instead of needing to scroll down to the bottom every time.

There doesn’t seem to be a way to turn this feature off at the moment. With many customers creating customer guides with favorites at the top, they may prefer to have it back to the default of the guide, returning to the top when you leave a live channel.

This is a small change but one that dramatically changes how the live guide on YouTube TV works.

This news comes as YouTube TV has reportedly continued to be Google’s fastest-growing service, crossing 6.5 million subscribers. YouTube TV is pulling away from other live TV services like Hulu + Live TV, Sling TV, and Fubo.

YouTube TV has also been working on fixing a glitch that asked customers to subscribe to Max. The glitch causes programs from Max to appear inside your library alongside your DVRed content and YouTube TV’s on-demand library for customers who don’t pay for Max. This causes a lot of confusion when customers click on a show they DVRed or think is a part of the video-on-demand library, only to be asked to pay extra for Max.
