YouTube TV Reportedly Tops 1 Million Subscribers

There have been rumors going around that YouTube TV has hit 1 million subscribers. Now Bloomberg reports that “people with knowledge of the matter” say that YouTube TV has hit that mark.

This would make YouTube TV the fourth-largest streaming service behind Sling TV at 2.3 million, Hulu at a reported 2 million subscribers, and DIRECTV NOW at 1.7 million.

This puts YouTube TV ahead of the reportedly 600,000 to 700,000 PlayStation Vue subscribers and 250,000 subscribers of fuboTV. Other services like Philo have not released official subscriber counts.

What is the most interesting part of this is the fact that all these services are extremely close in subscriber numbers. Some services have slowly started to pull away like Hulu, DIRECTV NOW, YouTube TV, and Sling TV; however, it is anyone’s game right now.

The competition is heating up. Device offers and sales on live TV streaming services like Sling TV’s recent $15 a month limited time deal are more common. At this point, the battle for subscribers still could be won by any of the live TV streaming services.
