Do you have trouble with the YouTube TV app on the Apple TV 4K crashing randomly? Does it seem like no matter what you do, it will suddenly just stop playing and close? You are not alone, and YouTube TV has confirmed they are aware of the issue and are working on a fix but still no timeline on when that fix will happen.

In a statement on Reddit, a YouTube TV Engineer replied to complaints about this issue, saying, “thanks, there’s several threads on this and we are actively working on it. It seems to be primarily the 1st gen 4k device that is affected.”

YouTube TV has been rolling out several test updates to see if they can fix this issue. On Reddit, YouTube TV confirmed these updates saying, “this is part of another large Apple update we just started this week so you’re in the lucky tiny first wave. This update should also address the app resume black screen issue as well as other performance improvements. Please message or share if you run into any unexpected issues.”

One other big fix YouTube TV is working on is improving 4K HDR streaming. This update also means with 4K HDR, you will no longer need to mess with the Apple TV set to make it work correctly. The YouTube TV app will now automatically switch to the correct HDR settings for your TV.

For now we have to wait as YouTube TV works to fix these bugs affecting the Apple TV app.

There is no date yet for a fix, but the good news is Google is working on it. Have you had this issue? Leave us a comment and let us know.
