Have you noticed the picture quality on your YouTube TV is improving? Did things seem to be less pixelated last night? You are not alone reports have been coming in that Google has increased the bitrate on YouTube TV to improve its picture quality.

So what is bitrate, and why does it matter? The bitrate of your video stream plays a big part in the quality of the video. Higher bitrates mean there is less pixelation or distortion on the image. Also, fast-moving objects on the screen will appear to be smoother.

This improvement should help make watching sports a lot more enjoyable. Now you should notice that the image on the screen is a lot smoother as players move across the screen or a ball is thrown. This should also help owners with large screens get a better image.

YouTube TV has not confirmed these changes, but Cord Cutters News readers reached out to inform us of the improvement. In our testing, we did see bitrates that were higher than the last time we tested them. Also, users on Reddit have done their own testing and claim to see the same bitrate increase we are seeing.

YouTube TV has promised improvements to the service now that NFL Sunday Ticket will be streaming on YouTube and YouTube TV this fall. It seems that improving the picture quality will be one of the improvements they plan on rolling out.
