YouTube TV is Coming to Vizio Smartcast TVs

Today a YouTube TV employee posted on Reddit announcing that support for Vizio Smartcast TVs is rolling out. Well, this is not an official announcement this poster has a history of posting YouTube TV news early. The good news is this won’t be a cast situation from the wording here YouTube TV will have a dedicated app on Vizio Smartcast TVs.

Here is the post that was made on Reddit:

We haven’t made a big announcement or anything, so y’all are the first to find out – but we’re slowly rolling out YTV to recent/newer Vizio Smartcast TVs, specifically the following models:

E55-F0, E65-F0, M55-F0, M65-F0

D65-F1, E43-F1, E55-F1, E65-F1, E75-F1, P55-F1, P65-F1, P75-F1, PQ65-F1

D55-F2, E50-F2, E75-F2

D60-F3, D70-F3, E70-F3, E80-F3, M70-F3

If you have one of the above TVs and want to use the built-in app (instead of Casting), please go check your TV’s firmware updates to ensure you’ve gotten the latest update (should be version 1.0.8.3). In the apps row, scroll to the right and you should see the YTV logo/app. Reply here if you’re having any issues with it. Thanks!

When YouTube TV first rolled out Google pushed it as a mobile-first experience and only offered the ability to cast to Chromecast and the Apple TV. Now it looks like Google is moving to more of a traditional large TV experience in the living room. Keep an eye out for Google to continue to roll out support for more TVs in the future.
