Hulu Youtube TV PhiloLast week Cord Cutters News surveyed over 4,000 of our readers. According to the results, YouTube TV, Hulu, and Philo are now the most popular live TV streaming services with our readers.

Here are the most popular live TV streaming services according to Cord Cutters News readers:

  1. Hulu
  2. YouTube TV
  3. Philo
  4. Sling TV
  5. AT&T TV NOW
  6. PlayStation Vue
  7. fuboTV

This is a dramatic shakeup of the live TV streaming services but is inline with other reports. Recently Philo reported that they had their best month ever adding new subscribers. Roku also reported that Philo jumped over PlayStation Vue so seeing them now up to the #3 spot shouldn’t be a surprise.

Disney, the parent company behind Hulu, has not released official subscriber numbers but did say its now the fastest growing live TV streaming services on the market today. Other reports have put Hulu on track to be the largest live TV streaming service by the end of 2019. So having Hulu at the top is also inline with what we have been hearing from the industry.

The one surprise here is Sling TV. At the end of the second quarter of 2019, Sling TV still had the most live TV subscribers of any service that has officially posted numbers. Although growth for Sling TV is slow, it’s still continuous. So seeing it drop down to #4 with our readers was a bit of a surprise.

PlayStation Vue at #6 is also inline with Roku’s most popular apps list. According to Roku, PlayStation Vue is now behind Hulu, YouTube TV, Philo, Sling TV, and AT&T TV NOW – exactly as our readers voted.

In the end what is most surprising is how close together many of these services rank. Only a few percentage points separate services like Sling TV and Philo.  This means the battle to be the most popular live TV streaming service is still wide open and anyone could claim the top spot. Yet we are seeing a growing trend with Hulu and YouTube TV rising to the top of the most popular live TV streaming services.
