YouTube TV Dropping Boston-Area NESN Regional Sports Network on Oct. 31

The volatility surrounding regional sports networks continues. YouTube TV is notifying subscribers that they’ll soon lose access to Boston-area New England Sports Network, which covers games for both the Boston Red Sox and Boston Bruins. The move comes after the live TV streaming service similarly dropped Fox-owned RSNs at the start of the month.

In an email to users, YouTube TV cited an inability to reach an agreement to continue offering NESN on its service. In recent weeks and months, we’ve reported on similar lineup shifts involving RSNs. Last week, Hulu announced it was dropping a handful of Sinclair-owned RSNs after it couldn’t reach an agreement. And YouTube TV’s announcement in September also affected a number of Sinclair’s RSNs.

Elsewhere, we’ve reported on rumors that Sinclair may be looking to restructure, and some are eyeing its collection of RSNs as it seeks to navigate some $8 billion in debt.

Beyond pro baseball and hockey coverage, NESN also broadcasts a number of college sports and other events. Those still hoping to catch the network’s broadcast can still turn to either fuboTV or AT&T TV Now.
