YouTube TV is Coming to 4 New Markets

Well it seems that YouTube TV is coming to some new markets soon. Since launch YouTube TV has only been available in a few markets around the United States. Now it seems that they are adding 4 new markets to that list.

Today it was announced that Sinclair and YouTube TV have come to a agreement to allow 4 Sinclair owned CBS affiliates to stream on YouTube TV. Sinclair now owns CBS affiliates in 24 markets but only struck a deal for 4 of them.

“We believe that the network-affiliate model provides great benefits to both parties and are pleased to have the value of this symbiotic relationship continued to be reflected in our relationship,” said Barry Faber, Sinclair’s executive VP for distribution and network relations. This deal also renews rights to allow these stations to stream on CBS All Access.

“We are pleased we have reached this agreement with our longtime and valued partner, Sinclair,” said Ray Hopkins, president of network distribution for the CBS Television Network. “In renewing this deal, it is clear that Sinclair recognizes the value that the most watched Network’s popular programming brings to the viewers in each market and to their business as a whole.”

These new markets are: KUTV Salt Lake City, KEYE Austin, Texas, WSBT South Bend, Ind., and WGFL Gainesville, Fl. No date has been set for when YouTube TV will launch in these markets. From the way the announcment was made it sounds like YouTube is just now getting rights in these markets. So it could be a few more months before YouTube expands into towns like Austin, Salt Lake City, South Bend, and Gainesville.
