YouTube TV Adds Support for Tablets

YouTube TV is well known for limited device support; however, last week Google quietly updated the YouTube TV app to add tablet support.

Not all tablets are supported but a growing list of Android tablets will support YouTube TV.

It is kind of shocking that Google did not include YouTube TV support for Android tablets at launch. This seems to go back to Google’s dedication to a mobile phone experience first.

A few months ago Google announced plans to add more device support. This started rumors of Roku and Fire TV support, and there have even been some Google customer service reps saying Roku support is coming. But you should take anything a customer service rep says with a grain of salt. They often just say anything they think you want to hear.

Hopefully, tablet support will not be the end of new device support for YouTube TV. With about 70% of cord cutters owning a Roku and Fire TV not having support for the most popular platforms will certainly hurt the growth of YouTube TV.
