YouTube TV Adds Local Now

Months after The Weather Channel announced plans to bring Local Now to YouTube TV it has happened. Now with your YouTube TV subscription, you get access to The Weather Channel’s Local Now network.

So what is Local Now? The Weather Channel’s Local Now provides localized updates relevant to 207 markets (think LA, Chicago, Minneapolis, Dallas, Tallahassee, etc.), in partnership with some of the most trusted news sources across the U.S. including The Weather Channel, the Associated Press, SportRadar, TrafficLand, and INRIX. Its localized content cycles on a short loop that’s refreshed at the top of every hour.

If you have ever seen The Weather Channel’s Local on the 8s, you are likely familiar with Local Now. Yet not only does it show you local weather but also a rolling list of content from Associated Press, Reuters, Foursquare, American City Business Journals, Stadium, Cheddar, Pointslocal, SportRadar, Internet Video Archive, TrafficLand, INRIX, Flight Aware, and more.

During major weather events often Local Now in affected markets will switch to a live feed of The Weather Channel. This is rare but often happens when events like hurricanes occur.
