YouTube: The Underappreciated Cord-Cutting Tool

YouTube-logo-full_colorOften when people hear “cord cutting,” they think Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon; but there is a huge world of cord-cutting resources besides these three. One of them is in plain sight and is something you probably already use regularly.

YouTube is an excellent free streaming service that brings you a wide range of free and paid content. Not only is YouTube a great source for short clips of cats but also for news, weather, sports, and tons of high-quality shows—from cooking to dramas and everything in between.

The real attraction of YouTube is the wide range of content that is available. Type into the search box whatever you are interested in, and you will be surprised at the content that comes up. Are you into cross country running, video games, classic TV shows, history, nature, etc.? You will be surprised at what you find.

Even major networks like HBO release free episodes on YouTube. The Smithsonian Channel releases a ton of full-length shows and documentaries on YouTube.

If you are a cord cutter, and you are not taking advantage of YouTube you need to give it a try. You may have to dig a bit but the payoff is worth it.
