YouTube Music is Now Free with Google Home

YouTube Music is now offering a free, ad-supported music experience to anyone with a Google Home device.

With this offer, you’ll be able to play curated stations from YouTube Music. For example, if you’re having a dance party in your kitchen, you can give the command “Hey Google, play 90s Pop Hits” and you’ll be singing along to the Spice Girls in no time. YouTube explains it like this.

With YouTube Music and Google Home, you can ask Google Home to play the right music for any moment or mood, and YouTube Music will play the perfect station, customized to your tastes based upon your request.

If you want the extra features and more customization options, you’ll need to update to YouTube Music Premium for $9.99/month, after a 30 day free trial. YouTube Music Premium subscriptions are completely ad-free.

With a premium account, you’ll have the ability to play music from specific artists, albums, and playlists. You’ll also get unlimited skips and song replay, as well as the ability to keep your music playing in the background while using other apps.

To activate this offer, go to the Account Settings section on your Google Home app. Choose YouTube Music as the default music service for your home.
