Have you noticed your YouTube doesn’t quite match the app on your friends and family’s devices? That’s because YouTube is testing out several new features with select users. YouTube has a list of experiments on its help page going back a few years. While not all experiments have proven successful enough to launch to all users, YouTube keeps trying out new ideas in small trial numbers to determine if 1. It works and 2. Users enjoy the change.
AndroidAuthority recently reported the latest experiment conducted by the streaming app on mobile devices is an AI-generated quiz feature designed to help YouTube users learn more about topics they’ve already seen. If you’re in the test group, you’ll see these quizzes listed on the Home feed.
“The quizzes will test your understanding of a subject covered in a video you recently watched. If you choose to take a quiz, a link to the recently watched video will appear under it so you can easily navigate back to learn more about the topic at hand. This global experiment is rolling out to a small percentage of viewers on iOS and Android who recently watched a few, select educational and English language videos.”
The platform hosts loads of DIY videos, music lessons, how-to guides, language learning content both verbal and computer code based, and so much more. Since the trial uses AI-generated quizzes, YouTube is not just testing users on their learning skills but AI’s as well.
YouTube highly recommends providing them with as much feedback as possible if you’re in an experiment group and participants could even get a gift card for contributing the the beta tests. The experiments are only available to select YouTube Premium members.
