YouTube is No Longer Working On Some Amazon Fire TV Models, Here is Everything We Know

Yesterday an update for the Fire TV YouTube TV app was pushed out. Now, many Fire TV owners are finding that the YouTub app on the Fire TV no longer works.

Readers flooded our contact email with complaints about this, and DownDetector is also reporting a growing number of complaints about YouTube TV not working on Fire TVs. Many readers say the YouTube app just shuts down after opening or shows an error message they can’t clear.

Update: Amazon has confirmed to Cord Cutters News that the issue has been identified and a fix is now rolling out to restore YouTube on Fire TVs.

We have not been able to figure out if this is happening on all Fire TVs but we have confirmed the issue on some of our Fire TV sticks.

Some readers report that Amazon customer service is telling them that they are aware of the issue and are working on a fix. Cord Cutters News reached out to Amazon and Google for comment but has not heard back at the time of this publication.

For now, if you are affected by this, you may be stuck until an update for the YouTube app on the Fire TV is pushed out. The good news is YouTube still works on other devices like your phone, game system, computer, and more. Sadly if you enjoy YouTube through your Fire TV you are out of luck.

This is breaking news we will post updates as we learn more.
