YouTube is Getting Higher Quality Video if You Pay

Today YouTube announced several new features to its YouTube Premium service, including the ability to get a higher-quality video if you pay.

YouTube Premium is best known for offering an ad-free YouTube experience, and the ability to download videos offline is adding new features to its $ 11.99-a-month service.

One of the biggest features will be an enhanced bitrate version of 1080p HD. This new version will, according to Google will, make videos more clear and more crisp. Currently limited to iOS, but this feature is coming to Android in the future.

The real selling point of this enhanced video will be sports. Golf, football, and other major sports often struggle with streaming on YouTube because of the fast nature of what is happening on screen. Now as the football goes through the air, you should notice a more clear and more crisp image.

YouTube Premium is also adding the ability to use Shareplay to watch a video together with someone over FaceTime on iOS. This is something that Android Users have been able to do with Google Live Sharing.

Mobile users will also now be able to queue videos in a custom play order allowing you to pick what video plays next when your current video ends.

YouTube is also adding Smart Downloads allowing YouTube to auto-download videos it thinks you will enjoy so you can watch YouTube even when offline.

YouTube premium customers should start to see these features show up in their YouTube apps starting today.
