‘Yellowstone’ is Getting a Prequel at Paramount+

ViacomCBS and MTV Entertainment Group have inked a multi-year deal with Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan for content production. The first order of business? A prequel series to the popular modern-day Western drama to stream on Paramount+. The show is titled “Y: 1883” and will follow the early Dutton family as they make the trek across the Great Plains to claim a spot of their own in the undeveloped wild west of the 19th century.

Paramount+ released the trailer for the upcoming series during Super Bowl LV.

“Taylor Sheridan is a visionary creative whose work has reinvented genres and amassed fan bases around the globe; we are thrilled he calls ViacomCBS and MTV Entertainment his home,” Chris McCarthy, President of MTV Entertainment, said in a statement, shared by Variety. “We couldn’t be more excited to build upon our partnership with him, expand the ‘Yellowstone’ universe and showcase Taylor’s boundless talent across all of our brands and platforms.”

CBS All Access will rebrand as Paramount+ on March 4. CBS All Access currently costs $5.99/month, but if you sign up for an annual subscription before the rebrand next month, you can save 50%.
