The Xbox One Just Got a New DVR Option

xboxLast year Microsoft announced that the Xbox One would soon have a DVR. Sadly just before E3 this year it was announced that the DVR option was no longer going to happen. Now thanks to the SiliconDust’s HDHomeRun Xbox One owners will finally have a DVR option.

Yesterday the HDHomeRun software came to the Xbox One.

Microsoft describes it: “Watch TV with a HDHomeRun network attached TV tuner. Beta support for DVR features—discover new shows, schedule recordings by series, sports team, specific airings, etc. (requires DVR beta account and subscription for DVR features).”

You need a standalone box that you plug your antenna into and then connect it to your router. From there it will make your antenna available on your home network to a wide range of different devices.

The DVR option is not free but you can use the HDHomeRun without the subscription to watch live TV on your Xbox One.

The addition of the Xbox One to the HDHomeRun lineup gives it a leg up over its main rival Tablo, which at this time does not support the Xbox One.

You can find the HDHomeRun software over at the Microsoft store.
