If you’re a sports fan, you likely use ESPN to watch live games, events, recaps, or highlights. Most live TV streaming services offer ESPN with some adding ESPN2, ESPNews, and ESPN U as well. In this post, we’re looking at two more sources of ESPN content – ESPN3 and ESPN+.
What is ESPN3?
ESPN3 is ESPN’s digital network. On the network, you’ll find thousands of live events each year, along with on-demand replays of recent events that have aired on ESPN.
You can find ESPN3 content on the ESPN website, as well as the mobile app. The content is accessible on computers, smartphones, tablets, and streaming devices through the ESPN app. The network is currently available nationwide at no additional cost to those who receive their high-speed Internet connection or video subscription from an affiliated TV provider.
What is ESPN+?
ESPN+ is ESPN’s subscription streaming service that launched in April 2018. With ESPN+, viewers can watch live games and events, from professional leagues to college sports. ESPN+ also includes exclusive, original content.
A subscription to ESPN+ costs $4.99/month. ESPN+ subscriptions were also recently added to the Disney bundle, giving subscribers access to Hulu with Limited Ads, Disney+, and ESPN+ for just $12.99/month. ESPN+ content is only available to those who subscribe to the streaming service.
Did ESPN+ Replace ESPN3?
No. Many ESPN fans were confused when the new streaming service launched. However, ESPN was quick to clarify reports that ESPN3 would be going away. While some content has been moved from ESPN3 to ESPN+, the network was clear that most of the content available on ESPN+ would be new programming that hasn’t yet been offered on ESPN channels.
