About Hulu
Hulu launched in October 2007 as a joint venture between NBC Universal and News Corporation, with later investments from Disney, WarnerMedia, and others. Originally designed as an ad-supported platform for recent TV episodes, Hulu quickly expanded to include full seasons and eventually a subscription tier known as Hulu Plus. In 2017, it entered the live TV market with Hulu + Live TV, becoming a key player in cord-cutting services.

Disney gained full operational control of Hulu in 2019 following its acquisition of 21st Century Fox and has since integrated the service more closely with Disney+. By late 2023, Hulu content became accessible through Disney+ for bundle subscribers, and in 2025, Hulu’s live TV service began merging with Fubo as part of a broader streaming strategy.

Hulu is now wholly owned by Disney and continues to serve as the company’s hub for general entertainment and mature programming, offering a mix of hit originals like The Handmaid’s Tale and content from networks including FX, ABC, and more.
