A recent survey conducted by Cord Cutters News, polling over 1,200 readers, has shed light on the streaming preferences of cord cutters in 2025. As more households abandon traditional cable and satellite subscriptions, streaming platforms have become the go-to source for entertainment, with a diverse range of services vying for viewers’ attention. The survey results highlight the dominance of certain platforms while showcasing the varied choices cord cutters make to meet their entertainment needs. Respondents were allowed to select multiple services, reflecting the trend of subscribing to several platforms to access a wide array of content.

Leading the pack, Amazon’s Prime Video emerged as the most popular streaming service, with 61.1% of respondents reporting its use. The platform’s vast library, including original programming and movies, along with its integration into Amazon’s broader ecosystem, likely contributes to its widespread adoption among cord cutters. Following closely, Netflix remains a powerhouse, with 53.9% of respondents indicating they use the service. Known for its extensive catalog of originals and licensed content, Netflix continues to hold a strong position in the streaming market.

Paramount+ secured the third spot, with 50.6% of cord cutters utilizing the platform. Its appeal may stem from its growing library of movies, TV shows, and live sports, including exclusive content from brands like CBS and MTV. Peacock, NBCUniversal’s streaming service, was used by 46.6% of respondents, reflecting its competitive offerings, such as next-day access to NBC shows and a robust selection of films. Hulu, with 45.1% usage, remains a strong contender, likely due to its combination of on-demand content and live TV options for those seeking a cable-like experience.

YouTube, often associated with user-generated content, was a streaming choice for 43.5% of respondents, indicating its growing role as a hub for entertainment beyond short videos. Disney+, with its family-friendly content and franchises like Marvel and Star Wars, was used by 37.7% of survey participants. HBO Max, known for its premium programming and blockbuster films, was selected by 33.9% of respondents. Apple TV+, while still a newer player in the streaming space, was used by 24.1% of cord cutters, suggesting its niche but growing appeal.

The survey underscores the fragmented yet dynamic nature of the streaming landscape, where cord cutters mix and match services to suit their preferences. As competition intensifies, these platforms continue to innovate to capture and retain viewers.
